Michael-Vincent N. Malanyaon was born in Quezon City, Manila, Philippines. He was first introduced to martial arts in Modern Arnis during his required physical education class at a very young age. Michael formally started training in the martial arts at the age of 7 learning Karate-Do taught by Shihan Manuel Veguillas under the JKA system.
In the late1980’s, Michael immigrated to the United States and adopted the city of Toledo, Ohio as his hometown. He currently works in industry and it was by destiny that he started back into martial arts after moving to Cincinnati, OH in the late 1990's. By chance, Michael met Grand Master Jorge Peňafiel and formally started training Balintawak Arnis Escrima Cuentada System.
Through his formal training with Grand Master Jorge Peňafiel, Michael continues to realize the effectiveness of Balintawak and further pursued the art by attending advanced seminars with Grand Master Bobby Taboada, founder of Balintawak Arnis International. He is currently a Qualified Instructor for Balintawak and continues to teach in Cincinnati, OH.
Michael’s journey in the martial arts continues as a student, competitor, instructor, coach, and judge. Also, he continues to promote the martial arts experience in demonstration performances throughout the community. With this journey, he strives to grow in perfection of the martial arts through his quest for physical fitness, broadening of the mind, and to teach the Art of Balintawak Arnis Escrima Cuentada System to others.
